First Salvatorian priest from Sri Lanka

Procession - Thanksgiving MassJuly 31, 2010 is a very special day for our society and for the Thanksgiving MassEast Asian Vicariate, because Rev. Prabu Michael Jesus Rajah was ordained priest in his native city of Jaffna, Sri Lanka, by the local bishop, His Excellency Thomas Savundaranayaham. He is the first Salvatorian priest who was ordained in Sri Lanka. Fr. Andrew Urbanski, our General Superior, came from Rome to join the celebration and underline the significance of this event. It is also a special day for the East Asian Vicariate,Thanksgiving Mass because all the Sri Lankan members underwent formation in the Philippines as of this date. Father Prabu himself spent almost 10 years in the Philippines for novitiate and philosophical and theological studies.

The Thanksgiving MassEast Asian Vicariate was represented by Frs. Christopher Kolwalczyk and Hubert Kranz. The day after the ordination, on August 1, 2010, Fr. Prabu celebrated his first mass in his home parish St. Mary. IThanksgiving Masst was a very solemn and impressing occasion. The colorful program after the mass gave a good insight into the beauty of the local culture. Father Prabu is now staying in our new community in Chilaw, Sri Lanka (newly established on June 16. 2010). He assists in parish work and also in vocation promotion and formation work.
