“Da Manila a Roma”
{imageshow sl=35 sc=11 /}Mater Salvatoris, New Manila. Finally, at the eve 14th January Fr. Chris had his “last supper” with us. Prior to this was our farewell party on the 5th of January. During this meaningful event we had our Eucharistic Celebration with Fr. Chris as our Presider and Fr. Adam, (our new Vicariate Superior) as homilist. Our Fathers and Brothers, some of our Salvatorian Sisters and Lay, benefactors, cooperators and friends were present and all eager to express their gratitude to Fr. Chris. Saying ‘Thank you Fr. Chris’ is not as easy as when we say ‘Goodbye Fr. Chris’ because we know that we will not see him again at least for a year or years maybe.
“Fly like an Eagle around the world and proclaim the word of God.” (SD 1/182) Taken from the Spiritual Diary of Fr. Jordan, these words consoles every saddened heart since Fr. Chris had left us for a greater purpose. Now, at his departure last 15th of January, “Da Manila a Roma” (from Manila to Rome) he brought with him the beautiful memories of his service as Vicariate Superior for three years here in our Unit. Nonetheless, with him are not just memories of us but also our prayers. Apparently now that he is closer to our Founder, to St. Peter and all the Saints in Rome he can sensibly offer our prayers to them.
With all our gratitude and prayers to Fr. Chris. May he continue to serve joyfully the Lord in his new assignment as 1st Consultor of the New Generalate in Rome. Salamat po at mabuhay ka Fr. Chris.
